PROJECT FALCON
July 2000: We purchased our 1969 Falcon
with plans of building a mild street strip car to advertise our 4 speed
toploader business. We started building a 306 cu. inch motor in hopes
of running mid 11 second quarter miles.
December 2000: The project took an unexpected
turn when a good friend was hanging out one day at the shop and joked
about putting his 550 horse power 429 in the Falcon. We all laughed
very hard about it that afternoon. Then the conversation turned serious
when we realized Crites Restoration had all the parts needed to do
the swap. Work started immediately.
May 2001: We decided we needed to be safe
about this and decided to have a custom roll cage installed. As we
talked more and more with Keith at The Hot Rod Store, we realized
we wanted more than just a simple roll cage. We decided to fabricate
the cage out of chromoly and install ladder bars and coil over shocks
in the rear. This would give us the best protection and allow us
to have an adjustable rear suspension.
July 2001: The chassis work is coming
along nicely at this point. We are taking pictures of the work as
it is being done to add to this page.
